MY BACKGROUND

About Us

My husband and I co-founded Developmental Resources, Inc., an educational consulting company that conducted national workshops and conferences for educators. We then started YouthLight, Inc., an educational publishing company that publishes books to help professionals who work with troubled children and adolescents.

I have worked as a dropout prevention counselor at a middle school, a high school counselor and a counselor for incarcerated youth in South Carolina. I also worked as a volunteer at the department of juvenile justice for several years and started a non-profit organization to help the youth. I currently consult and publish books on how to work with troubled children and adolescents.

In 2005, the GED Testing Service awarded me with the Cornelius P. Turner Award, presented annually to a GED graduate who has made outstanding contributions to society in education or public, or social service. This was an honor to receive.

I have been interviewed by the Arizona Tribune and the Wall Street Journal and several radio stations across the country. I have authored and co-authored more than twenty books/programs. My book on self-injury was recognized in USA Today.
